Wow what a day! (Wedding Videography 5/23)

Today marked the official start of Wedding Season for SBG Studios! The first wedding of the season was fantastic! The Bride Cat and Groom Jesse were excellent to work with.

The shoot started at 9am at Liv Aveda in Mankato. Cat and the bridesmaids got their hair done. From their we moved to Lake Crystal where the wedding was to be held outdoors by the lake. Light rain and clouds in the morning gave us a little scare but the it didn't phase Cat she was determined to get good weather for the outdoor ceremony. I was able to shoot 3 hours of pre-wedding footage. We got interviews with the hilarious cast of groomsman in the church where they were getting ready. The wedding party was about 31 I believe, and they were all a lot of fun!

From there we moved back to the wedding site where more footage and pictures were taken. The sun came out and scared the rain clouds away making it a perfect outdoor wedding. A few members of the wedding party accompanied the service with acoustic guitars and vocals. They battled wind issues but all together their performances were excellent and were captured for the DVD. The Ceremony was amazing and afterwords the bride and groom headed for their horse and buggy. So I capturing every moment got in the back of a pickup truck with my camera in hand to capture there saturday stroll around Lake Crystal.

It was close to 5 and we still needed to get more pictures at Minneopa state park so we hopped in the newlyweds car and arrived at the park. When we get through the entrance we realize their is another wedding taking place outdoors by the waterfall. We don't let that stop our determination and we get some amazing footage on the railroad tracks and eventually by the waterfall.

The reception was a hit at the Civic Center. Great food and lots of wedding party fun. During the speeches one of my backup cameras bit the dust. Thats why you always have a backup plan. Wednesday I will recieve a brand new backup camera another Sony FX-7. I finished out the day by getting footage of Cat and Jesse (trying) opening their hotel room and putting the do not disturb sign on.

All and all this was a very long day of shooting and I was on my feet all day and didnt get a break until 7 for dinner. The rewards of the long day will be the satisfaction of delivering an amazing video to a pair of madly in love newly weds. In a project such as today there are many rewards and benefits that you will take from this day. I love to learn from my experiences and today certainly was a learning experience. I would like to thank everyone that helped SBG Studios capture Cat and Jesse's special day!
